CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

The best evangelism is teaching another about our faith.  Join the Christian Education program in its creative ministry of teaching all ages.  The program offers not only Sunday School but also instruction on how to worship, drama programs, Vacation Bible School, field trips and festivals for the youth, and the opportunity to lead study and prayer groups for adults.  Please call the Secretary at the church office, 301-863-8551, for more information.

SUNDAY MORNING ACTIVITIES
FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH

MISSION

Our mission for the Christian Education of our children and youth is to provide:

  • an educational environment that promotes the love of Jesus Christ, a feeling of joy and an atmosphere of belonging.

  • the basics of the Christian faith in the Episcopal tradition.

  • a strong Bible-based curriculum.

  • a joyous opportunity for the parish to fulfill our responsibilities of the vow made at each baptism to do all in our power to support our children and youth in their life in Christ Jesus.

  • an excitement for living with the love of Jesus Christ.

  • SUNDAY SCHOOL

    Sunday School Registration Form

Sunday School is available for children Pre-School (age 4 by January 1) through 5th grade, as well as Middle and High School students.  Younger children may stay in the nursery during the church service.

Sunday School begins at 10:15 a.m. and the classes then join their families in the worship service for the celebration of the Eucharist.  The Preschool/Kindergarten class uses Bible stories to learn about God’s love; the older classes use the Living the Good News lectionary-based curriculum

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

    Galatians 5:22-23

    Prayer Pots

What an exciting time we're having in Sunday School! The children, from middle school down to the 3-year-olds, are eagerly participating in making prayer pots to sell at our Cookie and Craft Sale on December 10th 2011. The proceeds will go towards purchasing more materials for our Godly Play Sunday School program.  Each child made 2 pots and they were all so wonderfully decorated.  A HUGE thank you to Sarah Houde for the materials and her guidance in this super fun craft.  All the kids are truly enjoying themselves and we could not have done it without her.  A big thank you to Elisabeth Rogerson, Julie Coughlan, and Tommy Chen as well for helping the kids out as we get our hands all clayed up!

Here’s a sneak peek but the finished products will be even more beautiful once Sarah has glazed and fired the pots! We hope you’ll come out on December 10 to not only buy some cookies but to also check out our children’s beautiful clay creations!
