The Church of the Redeemer, Biloxi, MS Five Years After Hurricane Katrina |

Recently, parishioners of Ascension had an opportunity to visit Biloxi and are happy to report that the Church of the Redeemer is alive and well. The congregation, with their many outreach tenants, is meeting in what might have been their church hall before the storm. It sits just across the road from the old foundation. The new church is being built inland from the old site and appears to be just months from occupation. It’s a beautiful testimony to the faith and resilience of the Church’s family, both near and far. We thought you might like to see the pictures of their success. Disregard the erroneous camera date stamp. Dear Parishioners of Ascension; Thank you for your call this past weekend and thank you for your continuing interest in our progress. In October we sent out a letter to our partners updating everyone on our progress. I hope that Church of the Ascension received it. At any rate we moved into our new church building in November and Bishop Grey consecrated it on December 12th, 2010. I personally am most grateful to the congregation in Lexington Park for all your prayers and support through our long journey of recovery. Jan and I remember, with great affection, our visit to you three years ago. Rona Harding and the whole congregation were great hosts! I have just learned that Rona has retired. I hope she has a wonderful time in retirement. If you see or hear from her please express Jan and my best wishes. We at Redeemer wish the folks at Ascension every blessing as you look for a new Rector. Again, thank you for your continuing prayers and interest. May God bless you. Harold F. Roberts
